Sunday Prayer request

Sunday, November 6.

Jonathan is on his way to Vladivostok,Far East Russia to teach on Biblical Worldview in the Discipleship training missions school for a week.
He arrived safely in Moscow and now has a 7 hour layover and then a 9 hour flight to Vladivostok.

Please pray for safe travels for Jon and for me and the kids at home. It is really cold ( up to negative 10 F with the wind) so most likely we will be inside for the next 8 days.
Please pray for extra grace for me =),thanks. David has a cold as well.

Jon returns to Perm next Sunday night late and the next morning is teaching in the School of Biblical Studies,Monday- Friday, as well as his regular leader duties,etc.
Please pray for health and stamina and that he can have some rest after this. Thank you!

States until the 27th of December on home assignment/furlough. Our

We are still here, I am so bad about writing on this blog. David is getting better,he had jaundice and the levels are finally getting lower. He has been
treated for over a month now with medicine and also 10 days of photo light therapy.

My mom is visiting and helping me with the kids and around the apartment. She came for 5 weeks and has just 2 weeks left. The time is flying by too quickly. We are enjoying having her with us. It will lonely without her during the day while Jon

I love having 3 children. It definitely is not boring, trying to nurse a newborn, play and teach a 2.5 year old and 4.5 year old as well as cook,clean and all the other things we moms and wives do. I love being able to open our home for hospitality,hosting staff meetings for the children's ministry team and other
guests that come through YWAM Perm as well as our staff coming over. I am very grateful for Jonathan,the husband he is and how even after a hard day's work,he
is helping out and even gets Caleb and Abigail ready for bed every night he is
home. Caleb and Abigail are in love with David. They want to hold him often and smother him with kisses.

There is so much to be grateful for and I just wanted to share a few.

Jonathan and I are so happy to announce the birth of David Martin Dulin.
He was born on Sunday,March 7,2010 at 11am Perm time (1am EST).
He arrived about 3 weeks early, weighing 6 lbs 14.4 oz and 20.5 inches
long. Caleb and Abigail are thrilled and love their baby brother.

We recently found out that we are having a boy! Caleb is so excited to have a brother and Abigail is happy for a baby. Caleb asks us often when the baby will arrive. We cannot wait to meet this new little one late March 2010!

Remodeling work at the YWAM Missions Center in Perm, Russia has come to a standstill as our last drill finally went up in smoke.

We need your help!

Our entry way is lined with materials for remodeling the bathroom on the first floor of our Missions Center, but we can't use any of it until we get some new tools.

Two items we need to continue working are a Rotary Hammer and a Drill.

Jonathan and I are expecting our third baby late March 2010. We are thrilled as are the children. Caleb has been praying for a baby for a long time now. Caleb is convinced that he is having a baby brother and Abigail is excited about just having a baby to hold. She loves babies and takes such good care of her baby doll.

A little update about the children

Here is a long overdue update about Caleb and Abigail. I really desire to update several times a week but as you can see I don't very often. The past few months since we returned to Perm have been a whirlwind. A lot of changes going on here. Jonathan started the Russian driver's education course before Christmas which lasted till the end February. He had classes 3 evenings a week plus 6 hours of weekly driving practice,study at home as well as his full work week. In January, he was given the job of the Perm "City Coordinator" (base director) of YWAM Perm,Russia. We just had the annual Youth With a Mission Russia Staff conference the end of March which he was in charge of organizing. I could write so much more but this post is supposed to be about the kids.

So back to the children. I love being home with Caleb and Abigail. With the exception of going to the orphanages on Thursdays, I am home with them every day. Caleb is a talker, I wish you could hear him. Abigail is saying more words but mainly babbles. They are best friends. Of course, they have their moments but generally get along well. If Abi wants to play quietly by herself,sometimes Caleb gets upset and offended that she won't play with him.

Abigail loves to get into their drawers and take out their clothes. Then she tries to dress herself. Imagine her with Caleb's shirt on her head. They play so well together that when I was not in the room, Caleb took his scissors and gave Abigail a haircut or "hair crash" as he and Jon call it. I came back in to find her happily sitting on the desk while Caleb "trimmed her bangs". I now have a sandwich sized bag filled with hair. Caleb had just gotten a haircut the weekend before and must have enjoyed it enough to help Abigail get one too. You should have seen Jonathan's face.

Today at breakfast, Caleb told he wanted to see God's face. Lately when he prays,he asks God to put a baby in my tummy. Isn't that sweet? Our friend is pregnant and Caleb tells her ,"I want to play with your baby and he/she needs to come out and play with us".

Happy Resurrection Day! Here in Russia,Easter Sunday is not until this coming Sunday.

Yesterday,since Jon was sick, we had our own family church.
Caleb loves when we have family church. Jon and I read from a children's book of Bible stories about Palm Sunday, the Last Supper and Calvary. Caleb was interested and Abigail sat there trying to take all the books. When we spoke about Jesus dying, Caleb was quick to say that He is alive now.

Caleb amazes me with his comments and memory. He is my little helper and tells me everyday on his own that he loves us, his baby sister, Abigail and God. Abigail lights up when Jon comes home from work,he can barely get his coat and shoes off fast enough for her to be picked up.

We are back in Russia

Thank you for your prayers. Our family arrived safely in Perm 2 weeks ago on December 6th. Jon and I enjoyed our visit to the States. It was great to see so many of you.

It is great to be over jet lag. It took us a week and a half to finally get used to the time here. Perm is 10 hours ahead of Eastern Standard time. The kids had a hard time getting adjusted,therefore Jon and I had a hard time. Who wouldn't be able to adjust especially if you go to bed at a normal time in the dark and wake up in the morning in the dark. =)
The sun has been rising here around 10am every morning and going down around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Jon and I are happy to be home. Caleb was not happy when we arrived because "Russia was without snow",he said. But now there is a thin layer on the ground so life in Russia is what he is used to.

I will post some updated photos of the kids soon. It has been a while since we updated on here.

Time flies, 3 more weeks!

We are still in the States but the time is flying by quickly. We fly back to Russia in 3 weeks, on December 4. Our time here has been very busy but we did take a few weeks to really rest, at least the best we could with 2 little ones. Jonathan and I have enjoyed seeing family and friends and sharing with many churches,home groups,Sunday school classes,etc. about ministry in Perm,Russia and our family ministry vision and strategy to fufill it.

We have enjoyed seeing many of you and would love see those of you we have not met with yet. Please email us and we can try to make a time to meet. Again, we leave in 3 weeks so the time is getting shorter but we really want to see you!

Thank you for your prayers! Our family arrived in Charlotte on September 2, after a 50 hours of traveling. Jon and I thought that the 22 hour train ride from Perm to Moscow would be cheaper than flying to Moscow and less stressful but it was not. Unfortunately, the window in our 4 berth cabin would not shut all the way and it was cold outside so we froze for 22 hours. Once we arrived that evening in Moscow,we had 9 hours until our flight left. So we waited in the train station and had a small dinner. Jon bought tickets for the 1 hour train shuttle to the airport. The kids and I slept the whole hour. We were exhausted and by then it was 2 am, Moscow time (4 am ,Perm time). Caleb and Abigail did well considering. We still had several more hours before our flight to Germany. After a 4 hour layover in Germany, we boarded the 9 hour flight to Charlotte. It was wonderful to see our families waiting for us. Our family is loving the warm weather. It is great to see many of you and share about ministry in Russia.

Yesterday, when I was telling a friend goodbye and unlocking our door, Abigail waved like usual and said,"Paka", bye in Russian, clearly. Our friend,Katya was so happy to hear Abigail talk.
I am not sure if "Mama" counts as her first word or not. She has been saying ,"Mama",since she was 6 months old when she would see me.

Last Saturday, we had a birthday party with little friends from church
and the local YWAM Perm base. It was a full apartment with 12 kids and
several parents. We played a couple of games and ate sandwiches and
cake. Abigail slept through the whole thing and it was really loud
here especially with 9 little boys running around. We all had fun and
were tired afterwards except for Abigail who had a great nap. =)

Abigail is 11 months old. It is hard to believe she is almost a year old. She brings so much joy into our family. You can always count on a smile from her and she adores Caleb and Jon. She loves to say, " Mama" ,and talks to me a lot. She is pretty quiet but Caleb can get her to laugh. So far Abigail has 8 teeth, 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom.
She is not walking on her own even though she took her first step not long ago. She does great holding onto one finger and walking around but is not confident enough to take the plunge.

Caleb asked us for a new baby to hold since Abigail is "too big now" and he needs a "little baby to hold".

Temporary Residency News

Carrie and I are happy to report that our family's temporary residency permits were approved today! This means that we can stay for three years without needing to leave the country as in the past! We look forward to another three years of life and ministry here in Russia! We want to thank all of you who faithfully prayed for this need. Praise God for this answer to prayer!

We went to the Central Migration Control office this morning where the head of immigration stamped our passports with a 3 year permit. But we still have a couple more things to fulfill before the process is complete....

More details: Now,we have 7 days to get fingerprinted with the local police, pay 80 dollars to register and register at our local immigration office with our Russian sponsor who has allowed us to be registered in their home for 3 years. We had not been able to get in touch with our sponsor since arriving back in Perm a month ago. Thank the Lord that we were able to reach him today. This is the key part in getting our residency. Our sponsor informed us that he is leaving on Thursday for vacation to Turkey and would be gone for a month. God has perfect timing!

Thank you again for all your prayers,financial support and encouragement! On Tuesday, we are going with him to the immigration office in order to register us for the 3 years. The office just wants to make sure that our sponsor still agrees to have us registered in his home.

First Step

Abigail took her first step on Sunday. She has been able to stand on her own for 5 seconds or more for a couple weeks now but yesterday actually took a step towards Jon. Of course, she would rather speed crawl to keep up with Caleb.

They play so well together. It is fun to watch them interact. Caleb is very protective of Abigail when they are around other children. He makes sure her toy is not stolen. What a good brother.

She is funny. Since she goes to bed after Caleb, she tries to sneak into his room and open the door. One time she made it all the way to his mattress. Thankfully, I stopped her before she climbed onto Caleb. She was so excited to see him!

Conversations from an almost 3 year old

Caleb will be 3 years old on July 20th. He amazes us everyday with the things he says. He is a sweet little person.

Today, Jon went to the store to get some photos printed of the children and our family. Since we have a digital camera all of our photos are on a disc or the computer. We haven't printed pictures in a very long time. We picked a dozen really good pictures to print. So while Jon was gone, we were playing with some toys. Caleb says to me, " I miss Daddy", "When is he coming back?". I let him call Jon for a minute. Caleb said, " Hi,Daddy. Where are you?, "You bringing me back a surprise?" Then he told Jon, " I very like you. I miss you. You are my friend". He and Jon are best buddies.

The other day,Caleb and I were in the kitchen eating lunch and talking about how God made everything. He turned to me and asked , "Where is God?", In church?" He loves to read his little Bible and sing , "God Made Me" and "Jesus Loves Me".

Last month, Jon and I were telling Caleb to be very careful so he wouldn't fall and get hurt when we were in the mountains in Central Asia. He explained to us that if he fell he would die and Mama and Daddy would be sad and God would give us a new Caleb. We told him that God only made one Caleb for our family.

Greetings from Central Asia. Our family arrived here on March 2nd. For safety purposes, I will not name the city or country we are in. (that info is in our last newsletter)We have had limited internet access since arriving until a couple of days ago.

A missionary family is away for spring break and offered us their apartment for 3 weeks. Jon and I are very grateful for their hospitality. Our family had been staying at the missionary training center in one room since we arrived so it is nice to spread out a little. We were able to meet with some leaders here and got aquainted with the local Discipleship Training School students and staff.

Jon has been preparing for the DTS from Perm,Russia and finding out information about getting visas to the various outreach locations. The students and staff will be dividing into 3 outreach teams each going to a different country. Since there are several more weeks of lectures we needed to find a home where the DTS could live and finish the lecture phase. Through contacts at the training center, we found a home large enough to sleep 22 people, not comfortably but it works for a short amount of time. Half of our team arrived on Thursday and the other half arrives this Wednesday.

Prayer Requests:
Please pray for Jon. He has a lot on his shoulders as the leader and being in a new city adds more as he has to help orientate the DTS students and staff.
I was sick with the flu this weekend and still have a nagging headache. Abigail was sick with a cold but is better now.
Jon is teaching next week on the Inductive Bible study method while incorporating Biblical Worldview. Jon is also doing Bible history. Please pray that he stays healthy and the lectures go well.

I hope to post as many pictures as possible while we have internet access. I know the grandparents especially miss seeing the children.

Today, we went to the doctor for Abigail's immunizations. The doctor weighed her and measured her. She weighs 16 lbs and 3 oz. Her length is 27.16 inches. She is in the 90% and 97% percentale for weight and height. This girl loves to eat!

Abigail loves sitting in Caleb's old walker. She wants to sit up all
the time now so we prop her up and she watches Caleb run around and
play. Today was the first time we tried the walker and she was so
happy in it. We were amazed when she started to move the herself
forward. She is only 5 months! I have a feeling that she will be
mobile earlier than Caleb was. She has big brother to chase.

DTS ( Discipleship Training School)

I wanted to write a little about the DTS. The missionary training school started January 14 in Perm,Russia at the YWAM training center otherwise known as "the base". We just finished the 2nd week of lectures. Jon is leading this school along with a great bunch of staff (7)from Russia,U.S.A. , Ukraine and Australia. I help as I can and bring Caleb and Abigail to the base to spend time with the students at lunch time and other planned activities. There are 14 students in the school. It is so exciting to see Russians, Ukrainians, Americans and Moldavians working together towards a common goal, to know God and make Him known to the nations! Next week the students are having lectures about a lifestyle of generosity and how we should view wealth and mercy ministries.

Jon and Avgust who are on the Village Evangelism team along with 5 students just returned early this morning from a trip to several villages 7 hours north of Perm. It was so encouraging to hear from Jon about the responses. Villagers were inviting them into their homes for tea and were very interested in hearing the Gospel. On previous trips, sometimes the team only got invited to a couple of homes but this time many doors were opened.

Thank you so much for your prayers today as Carrie and I went to the Immigration office. We were 6th in line this morning at 8:30am. The line had already started before they opened at 9am. We along with Andy and Rachel,the directors of YWAM Perm and our friend Katya were in line for over 4 hours. When we finally got in the lady was upset with us because we were waiting in line with Abigail. She said if she had known we were waiting there with a child she would have processed our applications first. Basically, we have submitted our documents, praise God! The region of Perm that we are registered in has a 200 person quota. The lady is submitting our names under that quota! Again, praise God! For the city as a whole the total is 1,500.

This is still just the beginning but a large step forward. We have 2 months for them to process our documents and during this time we can still give them any additional documents as needed. The lady seemed confident that we should get and answer within 2 months but generally it takes 6 months. Their accepting our documents and putting our names towards the quota does not necessarily mean we will be approved for temporary residence it simply means we are accepted for consideration. Thank you for your continued prayers! The lady at the immigration office said we were the first Americans she has every seen applying for this. Please continue to pray!
